Dalias Cakes Is Growing The Weekly Kitchen to Bring Back Cooking Skills!
For a long time, Dalias Cakes has meant cakes, cake decorating, celebration bakes, and all the lovely edible details that make people smile. But if you have known me for a while, you will know there was a whole chapter before that.
Before I focused mainly on cakes, I taught cooking.
Real cooking. Chopping, mixing, tasting, planning, fixing mistakes, getting dinner on the table, and learning how not to panic when a recipe suddenly looks suspicious. Those skills were a huge part of what I loved doing.
But the cooking side never fully disappeared.

The short version is that people kept asking
I did try to keep everything neatly under the cakes heading.
Cake decorating classes made sense. They still do. They are creative, fun, and very much part of Dalias Cakes. There is something special about watching someone learn how to pipe a border, smooth buttercream, cover a cake, or make a decoration they thought was far too hard.
But over time, I kept getting the same question in different ways.
“Are you teaching cooking again?”
“Can you do basic kitchen skills?”
"I miss your cooking classes!”
At first, I tucked those questions away. I had cakes to bake, orders to manage, and a business to run. Also, adding something new is not as simple as saying, “Right, let’s do it.” It needs thought. It needs testing. It needs a format that works for real people with real lives.
And when the same thing keeps coming up, you do start to listen. Also, part of me still loves this area of the kitchen.
Why cooking skills matter so much
Cake decorating is wonderful, but cooking skills are different. They sit in everyday life.
They are the skills that help someone look in the fridge and make a meal. They help a nervous cook understand when onions are properly softened, why a sauce has split, or how to rescue something that looks as if it has gone wrong and Iv'e missed helping people feel confident in the kitchen.
Cooking skills are not about being fancy. They are about confidence.
They can mean:
Knowing how to use a knife safely and comfortably
Understanding simple flavours and seasoning
Learning what can be prepared ahead and how to save money
Reading a recipe without feeling overwhelmed and trusting your gut
Making food that suits your home, budget, and routine
That is why I miss teaching. Not perfect cooking. Not show-off cooking. Just useful, flexible, friendly cooking that makes life easier.
So that's why Dalias Cakes Is Growing The Weekly Kitchen to Bring Back Cooking Skills!

The Weekly Kitchen is the new space for that
So, I am growing Dalias Cakes by adding a new section called The Weekly Kitchen.
This is not replacing cakes. It is not taking away the cake decorating side. It is an additional space where the cooking skills can live properly, without trying to squeeze everything under the cake umbrella.
The name felt right because I want it to feel useful and regular. The kind of thing that can fit into the week, not something that feels too grand or complicated.
The Weekly Kitchen is still a work in progress. I want to be honest about that. I will need to test ideas, see what people enjoy, and work out what is genuinely helpful.
Some ideas might work beautifully. Some may need tweaking. Some might be replaced completely once I see what people actually need.
That is part of building something properly.

What is staying the same
The cakes are not going anywhere.
Dalias Cakes will still be about celebration cakes, cake decorating, and the creative side of baking. That part of the business is loved, and I love it too.
The change is that I am giving the cooking side its own proper place.
For years, I tried to make the different parts fit neatly together. Now I can see that they each deserve their own little corner. Cakes can be cakes. Cooking can be cooking. And both can sit under the same wider love of food, teaching, and bringing people together.
That feels much clearer.
I am taking it step by step
It's very tempting to launch something new with everything perfectly planned, polished, and ready. But that is not really how this is going to work.
The Weekly Kitchen will grow through testing.
I will be trying ideas, listening to feedback, and seeing what people respond to. If something is useful, I will build on it. If something feels clunky, I will adjust it. I would rather grow it organically than pretend it is fully formed from day one.
That means I may ask questions. I may try small sessions first. I may change the format as I go.

A little thank you
