Say Goodbye to Boredom This Summer with Exciting Ideas

Summer holiday is finally here! With the longer days and warm sunshine, it's a perfect time to break free from the usual routine. But let’s face it—those lazy afternoons can sometimes lead to boredom. Instead of letting the summer days slip by without purpose, why not immerse yourself in something engaging? My courses are designed to banish boredom and spark your creativity, providing fun, learning, and the thrill of exploring new interests.

I have a few ideas here to start you off.

Discover New Hobbies

For children not going to camp, or for the afternoons they are home, now is the perfect time to discover new hobbies with them, introduce them to new recipes and baking skills. Let them have fun with the rolling pin, (outdoors is great for cookie rolling, less mess and fresh air at the same time) colouring fondant or sugar to use with cupcake decorating, or for older teens, let them watch a course and make a fully decorated cake!

We have plenty classes to get started with so you can sit back and let it happen.

Other ideas

There are so many ways to entertain the kids. I am an advocate for letting them be bored and find their own solutions but sometimes it helps to have an idea.

You can have 2 or 3 days when you create the activities and leave some days for them to be in charge.

  • Camping out on the dining room floor;

    - Dim the lights, bring down covers and pillows, string up twinkle lights and serve sausages in rolls and marshmallow skewers. Take turns describing you ideal camping location and dream.

  • Carnival day;

    - Each child has a corner of the room to set up their activity. They get an hour to prepare and then the whole family goes around as a group to each 'stand' and has a great experience. Ideas are face painting, throwing a bean bag to knock down cans, bowling with bottles...

  • Paper mache;

    -Blow up balloons or use empty bottles and boxes. Use squished foil and put it all together in which ever shape you choose. Use paper mache (old paper strips dipped in a mixture of glue and water and lay it over the item to dry) to make masks or interesting ornaments. Can make 3D hills and trees this way, doll houses and fairy homes...

  • Nature outfits;

    -Cover yourself in cello tape sticky side out. Go for a nature walk and decorate your self with a lovely outfit by sticking on what you find, leaves, sticks, flowers...

  • Baking frenzie;

    -Have a competition to see who can make and shape the most cookies / rice krispie treats / cake pops in ta certain time.
